KAYKOLE RELEASES HER DEBUT SINGLE
- Huntsville, Alabama | February 2, 2022
Huntsville native, singer-songwriter, and producer, Kandis Kay Kole announces the release of her debut single, The Doxology. An introduction to her upcoming freshman EP, Out of the Shadows [slated for full release in September], The Doxology showcases her strong ties to her faith. As an independent artist, Kandis creates a sound that is reminiscent of the hits of yesterday. "In my mind, gospel music is the most beautiful music in the world, and this song feels as familiar as the lyrics, but fresh and new," Kandis says. "I grew up singing in church, and my parents sang with gospel choirs around the world my entire life," she continues, "so, music is literally in my DNA."
The Doxology brings together traditional hymnody and the brassy sounds of the 90's. While the lyrics are not her own, she embraces them with nuance lightened with break-out vocals that hit in just the right spot. Not taking from the original composition, she brings new flavor for the new generation of believers. Her thick vocals make for a rich tune that is both funky and fresh.
Kandis started her music career at the tender age of four, singing on television with her siblings and parents during a gospel broadcast, and later performing vocally with her brother and sister at local events. When she turned twelve, she began studying under the late guitar phenom, Eddie "Spanky" Alford, and stepped into the world of gospel music full throttle as one of the lead keyboardists for The Kirby Family. It is those songs of old and the power of those traditional melodies that continue to inspire her music today. Her single is not her only upcoming project. Kandis is currently co-producing the signature album for R&B / Neo-Soul newcomer Ken Woods.

Kandis is a musician, singer, songwriter, former stage actress, content creator, and copywriter with over 20 years of experience playing and creating music in the marketplace, and in ministry. She is a graduate of Full Sail University where she received a degree in Music Production.
Kandis credits her passion for music to her mentor, the late world-renowned guitarist, Eddie "Spanky" Alfred, who began mentoring and training her as a pianist at the tender age of 12. Her first album credit came in 2002, as the lead keyboardist and vocalist on The Kirby Family's sophomore album, Must Go On. Since then, she has been honing her skills as a singer-songwriter, lending her instrumentation and vocal skills for conferences and seminars, plays, and a number of musical events around the city including the What's Going On Project, a musical collaboration of artists against racism and violence.
Kandis currently works as the "Daytime DJ" for the Conversations with a Mentor broadcast and Wednesday Work Sessions every week on Clubhouse.
Her upcoming debut project, Out of the Shadows speaks to her growing up in the shadows of her older sister, the Brand Boss otherwise known as Andrea Brandon, and her younger brother, Charles Brandon IV, the baddest bassist in the region.
